The trip was very good organized from the beginning, where we had always a contact person on hand. Our guides did an amazing job, so that also some slower hikers felt comfortable and if there were some needs, they were on zhe scene to help.food and accomodation were fantastic! Thank you so so much to All the hard working men in the background! It was a lifetime experience and i would highly recommend to book witj trexperience when you would like to travel with a trustful and professional company.
This was a challenging and rewarding trip, overall, I thought it was great. The porters and guides did a great job and work very hard to ensure the customers are happy. The only issue I had was the night before the hike started many people were on a guided tour that did not return to Cusco until after 7PM. Then we had to go to orientation, and many people were very tired and had to get dinner and get packed before an early pickup at 4AM and a full day of hiking. My suggestion would be to eliminate one stop on this tour day to ensure hikers have enough time to prepare for the hike and get a good night’s sleep. Also, I think it is important to stress that hikers be fit before trying a hike like the Salkantay trail, I think some people think they will just “tough it out” but this trail requires a person to be physically and mentally fit. One other small issue, I thought I would be in a tent by myself, I remember specifically asking for this and was willing to pay more money. However, when we got out there, I found out I was not in a tent by myself. I was traveling with a companion so it was ok but if I was by myself, I would not have been happy to be in a tent with someone I don’t know. My suggestion is to make sure your customers understand what they are getting with regards to sleeping arrangements.
I had the best time ever on the Salkantay Trek with TreXperience! Our guides, Roger and Lurdes, were super caring and fun, always making sure we felt comfortable and enjoyed the experience. The food was amazing, the camps were cozy, and the views were out of this world. On the second day, which was my birthday, the team even surprised us with a cake! I came back home full of memories from these 5 incredible days and would totally recommend it to anyone who wants to step out of their comfort zone and take on some challenging hikes with breathtaking landscapes along the way.
What an unforgettable trip! Trexperience was professional and well-operated. Our guide, Frank, was from the Sacred Valley, and his deep knowledge of the history and culture of the area and long experience working with hikers of varying skill levels enriched our trip and ensured that we always felt completely safe and free to enjoy the incredible sights. The assistant guide, Evangelino, was sweet and attentive. (He was also a total life-saver when, after the end of the trip, we realized just hours before our early morning flight out of Peru that we had left a bag at the Trexperience office and he helped us get it back in time!) It was a pleasure to get to know both of them. Our group was relatively small (10 people) and from different countries (my cousin and I from the US, a couple from Sweden, a couple from Colombia, a woman from New Zealand and three young men from Germany) and it was so cool to hear about their lives and share this really unique experience with them. The food, prepared by Chef Santos and Assistant Chef Ricardo, was delicious and plentiful, which is particularly amazing when you reflect on the fact that every ingredient (including the fresh mangoes for the mango ceviche) was carried in by the porters. The team of 12 porters, led by Mr. Leonardo, were notable not just for their physical strength (they move up and down the mountains so quickly carrying huge packs!), but for how well they coordinated the set up and dismantling of the camp each day and for their friendly attitudes. This part of the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been in the world and this trip made me want to come back and explore new parts of it.
Pre-brief; The day before starting the trek the guide (Freddy) arrived out our air bnb to discuss the trip. He was informative and broke down how each day would run. He was able to answer any questions we had. During this our duffel bags were provided.
Main trek;We were picked up on time at our air bnb in a private transport. As we were moving to a new air bnb after the trek they also took and stored our bags at their office for the duration of the trip.
On the way to the start of the trek we stopped for breakfast. This was good with a variety of food and drinks provided. We had two guides through the whole trek who were extremely approachable and knowledgeable as well as letting us set the pace. Our tent was a good size with 2 comfy beds. Every night a massage was provided.
Food throughout the trip was of high quality as well as plenty of it! The porters were also very good arriving and setting up the camp in a quick and efficient manner each day.
The only complaint would be that the alcoholic beverages stated as available during booking were not provided. We had to ask on the second night after not receiving any on the first and only got one half bottle of wine. On the third night we were informed there was no more left even though we had only had one half bottle.
Overall the trip was excellent with good staff and guides, we had plenty of time to enjoy the scenery and got a lovely view of Machu Picchu on the final day.
A big thank you to all the team at TreXperience for an amazing 4 days.
We did the four-day Inca trail and highly recommend TreXperience. They handled all the details including airport transfers, tours, hotel, hike, train from Macchu Picchu and care for our vegetarian diet. They made it so easy and created a magical experience for us. Guide Jose Luis and his assistant Sergio were excellent. Their knowledge and passion of the area and history were beyond compare. They made sure we were taken care of and even used detective skills to track down our lost iPhone which we got back! Definitely book if you're on the fence!
